Adela Lerczack Obituary

Adela Rose Lerczak (Zelizko) , who lived at Grand Prairie of Macomb, passed away on May 24, 2026 at McDonough District Hospital.

She was born in 1926, in Chicago. she was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Antonia Zelizko, who emigrated from Czechoslovakia to the United States in 1922. She and Joseph Frank Lerczak were married from 1953 to 1961.

She is survived by sons, Robert (Cathy) of Lemont, Illinois, and Thomas (Julie) of Macomb, Illinois, three grandchildren, John (Angela) Lerczak, Sarah (David) Weeks, and Katie (Reid) Houser, and six great-grandchildren, Emerson, Savannah, Aiden, Jaycie, Hallie, and Owen.

She once worked for Time Magazine and later the American Felt Company. She retired from Hanover Insurance Company after 19 years as Administrative Services Supervisor.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, movies, music, and gardening.

She was proud of her Czech ancestry and was fluid in the Czech language, which was her first language until entering public school.

Cremation rites will be accorded as she wished with burial next to her parents at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, Illinois. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
