Obituary
Alice “Elaine” France, 83, of Macomb passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 at The Lamoine Retirement Living and Memory Care facility in Macomb.
She was born to the late Lyle and Nina Heap Gray on September 14, 1939 in Macomb. She married Marlin France on September 15, 1957. He survives.
Elaine was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb, Macomb Women’s Club and PEO. She enjoyed sewing, doing needlework and playing cards with her friends. She was a loving and caring person who dearly loved her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends.
A son, Jeff France passed away on December 20, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Gray and Ron Gray.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Marlin, a daughter, Tammy Dankovich (Ted) of Greenville, South Carolina, six grandchildren, Cassie (John) Lawler of Jacksonville, Florida, Justin (Kristen) Dankovich of Roswell, Georgia, Adam (Kindal) Dankovich of Greenville, South Carolina, Jordan (Ryan) Stevens of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary (Chip) Colon of Charleston, South Carolina, and Lydia France of Columbia, Missouri, seven great-grandchildren, Maddi Grace, Jack and Emma Lawler of Jacksonville, Florida, Brayden and Savannah Dankovich of Roswell Georgia, Lily Dankovich of Greenville, South Carolina and Sloane Allen Stevens of St. Louis, Missouri and two brothers, Roger (Teri) Gray of Macomb and Dan (Tina) Gray of Anderson, Indiana. A daughter-in-law; Tina France of Eureka, Missouri
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb with Pastor Scott Grulke officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to MDH Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
