Betty graduated from Western High School, Macomb in 1945 and upon graduation entered the St. Francis school of nursing in Macomb. With her marriage to Leland, she settled into the role of a farm wife and mother in rural Industry, IL and in 1956 (through 1988) began a long and distinguished career as a nurse in the Industry Clinic working with Dr. Budris Andernovics. She assisted Dr. Andernovics as he established his general practice with medical duties, distribution of medications, providing a welcoming smile for patients and always keeping the office supplied with Jellybeans! In fact, her son-in-law Randy always kept her supplied with her favorite licorice jellybeans! Betty loved her career as a nurse often saying in her later years she wished she could be back in the role of nursing and helping patients. Betty loved her role as a mother. She took great pride in nurturing her children Denny and Debby always with a listening ear, a hug, a kiss on the forehead and cookies when they needed encouragement!
God could not be everywhere, so he created Mothers! Betty was a special Mother; a special heavenly gift who will be missed by all who knew her! Private family graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Rev. Lee Unger will officiate. Memorials may be made to the HSMC New Animal Shelter.
