Charles M. Combites, 77, of Blandinsville passed away at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born on March 10, 1947 in LaHarpe to Joyce Allen and Buelah Kimler Combites. He married Loma Sue Cooper on February 9, 1974 in Colchester. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Chane Allen (Dawn) Combites of Terra Haute, Illinois, Chess R. Combites of Blandinsville, Caleb T. (Sunny) Combites of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Cas (Daniel) Bean of Macomb, Corben W. Combites of Blandinsville and Carrie I. Combites of Nauvoo, Illinois; six grandchildren, Taylor R. Combites, Grant R. Combites, Jaydyn T. Combites, Perin E.D. Combites, Leo E. Bean and Lunabell S. Combites; brother, Paul K. Combites of Blandinsville ; one brother-in-law, Richard Baugh of Macomb and several nieces and nephews.’
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nola Lee Baugh and three siblings in infancy.
Charles lived in the Blandinsville area most of his life. He worked construction for Chadco in Bushnell and Lance in Macomb and was self employed contractor with Don Mathis since 1986. Charles graduated from Northwestern Sciota in 1965. He received his BA from WIU . He did enduro motorcycle racing when he was in his twenties. He made black powder rifles and participated with the 5th Kentucky Muddsills Civil War living history for 25 years. He is a member of the Macomb Church of Christ where he served as an elder for the last 7 years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Central Cemetery south of Blandinsville. with Elder Tim Burke and past Elder Larry Morley will officiate. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26,2024 at the Macomb Church of Christ.
