David Parks Obituary

David G. Parks was born in Macomb, Illinois on September 25, 1949, the son of Kenneth and Ruth Parks of, and passed away at a healthcare facility in Freeport, Illinois on March 15, 2023.  He graduated from Northwestern High School in Sciota, and Western Illinois University, with a degree in Political Science. 
     In Dave’s younger years, he was known throughout the area as an excellent guitar player, playing in several bands, and touring the Midwest from Texas to Minnesota.  He also worked on the family farm in Blandinsville, in insurance sales, and eventually, in a delivery business, traveling out of the Chicago suburban area before moving to Freeport, where he lived the rest of his life.   
     Dave’s passing was preceded by that of his father and mother, Kenneth and Ruth Parks.  He is survived by one brother, Steve (Jan), of St. Joseph, Missouri, two nephews, Martin, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Paul, of Overland Park, Kansas, and one niece, Robin Huff, of Eldon, Missouri.  
     Cremation rites have been accorded. Grave side services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville with Dan Huff officiating. There will be no visitation.
     Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville is in charge of arrangements.
     Donations in Dave’s memory may be sent to either the First Lutheran Church, 303 Galena Avenue, Freeport, Illinois 61032, or Pearl Pavilion, 900 Kiwanis Drive, Freeport, Illinois 61032.
