Don E. Nelson, 71, of Colchester passed away at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
He was born on October 20, 1951 in Mankato, Minnesota to Edgar G. and Janet E. Robb Nelson. He married Mary Bierhaus on July 10, 2010 in Green Forest, Arkansas. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ben (Malissa) Nelson of New London, Iowa and Paul (Gloria Diggs) Nelson of Colchester; four grandchildren Donovan, Jonothan, Joedon and Noah Nelson; one brother, Marty Nelson of Green Forest, Arkansas and two nieces, Sabrina (Mark) Nance and Melissa (Andy) Kelly .
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tony Nelson.
Don lived in Mankato, Minnesota, Mossville, Illinois and Colchester. He attended school in Chillicothe. He enjoyed racing, Allis Chalmers tractors, and spending time with his grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Private burial of ashes will be held in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Don Nelson Memorial Fund to be used for his grandchildren’s education.
