Doris Arlene Burnie Cooper

Doris Arlene Cooper, 89, of Macomb, IL formerly of Livonia,  Michigan passed away at 10:55 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.
She was born in Detroit on November 24, 1932 to Robert (Harry) Henry Burnie and Delia Hortense Marie Burnie, Doris was the youngest of 3 children; sisters, Mary Ann Rita Burnie (George) Barnes and Lois Jeanne Burnie (James) Goode.
Doris was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Rodney Charles Cooper. Devoted mother of Thomas (Julie) Cooper, Dr. John (Gayle) Cooper, William (Cris) Cooper, proud grandmother of 7, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Doris was an avid Detroit sports fan and particularly loved the Tigers baseball games, often keeping score. She treasured memories of international travel, particularly her trip to visit the Vatican in Rome. Doris loved music and sang in her church choir, then joined the choir at Grand Prairie, where she lived for 8 years. Her abiding love of her faith grounded her and provided her comfort throughout her life.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass for Doris will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church 309 West Jackson Street, Macomb, IL. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery 25800 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield, Michigan at a later date. There will be no visitation.
The Cooper family expresses their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff of Grand Prairie and the Elms, MDH Hospice, and St. Paul’s Parish for the loving care and support that Doris received over the 8 years that she was a part of the Macomb community.
Memorial tributes are suggested to St. Paul Catholic Church and School in Macomb, IL.
