Dorothy Jean Anderson, 98, of Macomb, formerly of Good Hope passed away at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Wesley Village Heathcare in Macomb.
She was born on July 16, 1923 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Joseph M. and Florence Miller Teal. She married Dale D. Anderson on November 14, 1948. He passed away on May 30, 1989.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Betty Betts, Helen Harwood, Lois Olson and Geraldine Parvin and one brother Henry Teal.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard (Vicki) Anderson of Eureka, Illinois, Crystal Fowler of Tipton, Iowa, Martha (Robert) Ott of Quincy, Illinois and Dale (Theresa) Anderson of Good Hope, Illinois; six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Beason High School in 1941. She attended Brown’s Business College and later Lincoln College. She was a stenographer in the WACS during Word War II. While in WACS she served in Coffeeville, Kansas, the Pentagon and Berlin. She also worked for State Farm in Bloomington, Lockheed-Martin in Los Angeles, California, DeWitt County Ration Board and was treasurer in Clinton, Illinois.
She and her husband farmed north of Good Hope and she was very active in the Good Hope United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the Legion and the VFW. She served several terms as adjutant at the VFW.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Good Hope Cemetery with Reverend Imelda Ramos officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Village or Good Hope United Methodist Church.
