Duane "Jim" Smith Obituary

Duane “Jim” Smith, 74, of rural Macomb passed away at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on July 21, 1947 in Macomb to Duane “Buck” and Rosalee Parks Smith. He married Karen Ellis on January 28, 1967 in Good Hope. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Melissa “Missy” (Jeff) Hochstatter of Wyanet and Amanda “Mandy” Smith of Adair; three grandchildren, Taylor Rose (Alex Dorothy) Colston, Tanner Lee James Reneau and Cameron Lee  Lillie; one great-granddaughter, Lennon LeAnn Dorothy; one sister, Dixie (Roger) Rouse of Macomb; one niece, Stacey Rouse and nephew, Shawn Rouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim lived all of his life in the Macomb area where he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the New Salem Township Board, New Salem Fire and Rescue Squad and was a former member of the Presbyterian Men’s Group. He also served as the sexton of the Pennington Point Cemetery for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pennington Point Cemetery west of Adair.
Memorials may be made to the Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church.
