Elizabeth Hillyer Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Hillyer, 88, of Macomb, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born on May 20, 1932 in Macomb to Walter and Nilla Mae Swanson Price. She married William H. Hillyer on February 3, 1951 in Macomb. He passed away on March 10, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Chatterton and Hazel Toland; one brother, Robert Carroll Price; and several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew Steve Bainter.

Elizabeth is survived by three sons; William (Kim) Hillyer, of Marco Island, Florida, David (Linda) Hillyer of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Mike (Teri) Hillyer of Macomb; one step-daughter, Benitta Rector of Macomb; eight grandchildren, Chelsey (Jordan Ault) Hillyer, Whitney (Eric) Mademann, Jessica (Tim) Hehman, Ryan (Ashley) Hillyer, Katie Hillyer, Stephanie (Reid) Fulkerson, Mary Rector, Mona Rector; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew Chuck Bainter, who farmed the family farm, and her devoted niece Sharon Myers, who traveled to Florida with her for many winters.

Elizabeth lived in Macomb all her life. She was co-owner, with her husband, of Hillyer Inc. She was a member of Hillsgrove United Methodist Church and attended The Crossing. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and working with her flowers. Elizabeth especially enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.

Funeral services will be private. Friends may call at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb from 9am – 11am on Saturday, February 13, 2021. The family will not be present, and masks will be required. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Great River Honor Flight, Hillsgrove Church or The Crossing in Macomb.
