Gary D. Applegate, 72, of Macomb passed away at 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.
He was born in Peoria to Robert and Melba Fugate Applegate.
He is survived by his sisters, Terry (Lloyd) Stambaugh of St. Augustine, Illinois, Dixie Applegate of Vail, Colorado, Debra Applegate of Seminole, Florida and Dawn (Max) Ford of Macomb; several nieces and nephews, Corey (Amy) Rouse, Tim Rouse, Jaime Rouse, Terry (Rick) Thorman, Connie (Matt) Schotts, Diane (Troy Friday) Stambaugh, Skyler Ford and Max (Kimberly) Ford; several great-nieces and nephews and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Linda Rouse.
Gary lived in Macomb area most of his life. He worked as head of maintenance at Wesley Village, where he recently retired. He was a 1970 graduate of Bardolph High School. He enjoyed wood working, classic tractors, gardening, his Coi fish pond, assembling and flying drones and decorating for Halloween and Christmas. He was a huge movie buff.
He served in the Illinois Army National Guard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Pastor A. Lee Unger officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bardolph Cemetery in Bardolph. Full military rites being conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.
