Geneva Richmond Obituary

Geneva Rose Richmond, age 91, of Macomb, IL passed away at 8:38 P.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at The Lamoine Assisted Living in Macomb. She was born on March 15, 1931 in Good Hope, Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Valentine ( Hughes ) Guarin. She first married Barney Phillips in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1987. She later married Virgil Richmond. He, also, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Terry ( Karen ) Phillips of Monrose, Iowa, one daughter, Marilyn Pruitt of Macomb,
4 grandchildren, Brad ( Peggy) Phillips, Misty Brewer, Adam ( Amelia) Bugos, Michelle (Scott) Steer, 6 great grandchildren, Madison (Taylor) Blythe, Christian Brewer, Dylan Phillips, MaKayla Phillips, Hazel Bugos, Maizy Bugos, and 1 great-great grandchild, Coe Blythe. She is, also, survived by many dear nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, and 3 siblings in infancy.
Geneva was well known for her pie baking skills and she greatly enjoyed family dinners. She worked at Good Hope Elementary and later was employed by GTE/Verizon, retiring with 20 years of service in 1994. After retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Texas with her sister-in-law, Charlotte Long, where they danced and made many friends at all the music “jams”.
Geneva danced through life and her love and compassion for family brought peace and joy to everyone. The world is a darker place without her presence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Clugston Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Pastor Ben Ellefritz will officiate. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Good Hope, IL. The family will meet with friends one hour before the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) foundation. You may sign the guest book and leave condolences at clugston-tibbitts.com
