Gregg Randall Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gregg R. Randall

October 22, 1956 – August 1, 2026

Gregg R. Randall, 69, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 1,

2026.

Born on October 22, 1956, in Quincy, Illinois to Ronald M. and Mary M. (Barrigar) Randall, Gregg grew

up in Augusta, Illinois and graduated from Southeastern High School in 1974. He pursued higher

education at the University of Illinois in Champaign, AIMS Community College in Greeley, Colorado,

and graduated from Quincy Technical Schools.

Gregg spent his early career as a drilling rig operator, earning distinction as the youngest person to

supervise and run his own rig. He later transitioned into technology, working as a computer repair

technician for CCS Computers and the West Central Illinois Special Education Cooperative. He also

spent several years as a volunteer with the Blandinsville-Hire Fire Department. In his retirement, he

turned his focus fully to his passions—cooking up great meals, enjoying simple days at home, and

cherishing every moment spent with his family and grandbabies.

Gregg was a true outdoorsman at heart. Whether he was fishing, camping, hiking, hunting, gardening,

or hunting for mushrooms, he was always in his element when surrounded by nature. He was an avid

sports enthusiast and a devoted, lifelong fan of the Minnesota Twins. Music was a constant, driving

soundtrack throughout Gregg's life. He held a deep love for rock 'n' roll, blues, jazz, and anything

featuring a "rockin' ass guitar." He cherished memories of the countless live concerts he

attended—especially during his years living in Colorado in the 1970s—with his absolute favorite being

Weather Report featuring Jaco Pastorius, with Al Di Meola opening.

On February 2, 1980 Gregg married Ann K. Rehfeld in Greeley, Colorado. She survives, along with

their three children, Kathryn (Gary) Griffith of Carbondale, IL, Kelin (Ashley) Randall of East Peoria, IL,

and Amy Randall of Blandinsville, IL; and four adored granddaughters, Harper and Cadence Griffith,

and Layla and Ellie Randall. He also leaves behind his father, Ronald Randall of Augusta, IL; his sister,

Andrea Randall of Quincy, IL; his brothers, Mike (Laurie) Larson of Bozeman, MT, and Mark (Martha)

Larson of Macomb, IL; along with many nieces and nephews. Gregg was preceded in death by his

mother, Mary, and his stepmother, Julia.

Following cremation, the family will hold a private gathering, with a celebration of Gregg's life to be

held at a later date.

Donations can be made to Best Friends Animal Society and the Blandinsville-Hire Fire Department.
