Jack J. Pickard

Jack Pickard, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida formerly of Macomb, Illinois passed away peacefully at the Cypress Village Health Center on August 21, 2023. He married Janice Kinnear on August 30, 1953 she survives along with one daughter Pamela Perdue (Dean Isley) of Mount Airy, North Carolina and one son Commander USN (RET) Patrick Pickard of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Don Pickard of Oak Park, Illinois. 
He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. A graduate of Rushville High school, he received his BS and MS degrees from Western Illinois University. He was a teacher at Macomb High School for nine years before becoming the Assistant McDonough County Superintendent of Schools in 1963. He then became the McDonough County Superintendent of Schools in 1971 serving in that position until becoming the first Regional Superintendent of Hancock and McDonough Counties in 1979. He remained in that position until his Retirement from Public office in 1987.  He then served as the Executive Director of an Illinois Educational Service Center until the Fall of 1991. 
Cremation Rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. 
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
