Jim Torma, 92, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26 at Wesley Village where he has lived the last 5 years with his wife Janie Clapp Torma of Fort Snelling, MN. Jim was born March 24, 1928 in Hibbing, Minnesota. He served in the Army and was stationed in Stutgard, Germany. After the Army he attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated with a business degree. Jim worked for Pillsbury in Minneapolis for a number of years then working and retiring from Dekalb Ag Research in Dekalb, IL. After a busy retirement Jim and Janie moved to Wesley Village to be closer to their daughter Susan Nolan. He his preceded in death by his parents, Peter Jalmer Torma and Mayme Martha (Mattson) of Hibbing. Surviving are his children, David Torma, (wife Susan Rutherford), Betsey (Torma) Ferraro, Susan (Torma) Nolan (husband David Nolan), eight wonderful grandchildren: Melissa, Andrew, and Katie Torma; Emily, Jacob and Ryan Ferraro; Grayson and Gretta Nolan. Services will be announced at a later date, internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Village or the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd of Macomb.
