Jennie Trias, age 73, of Macomb, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 in hospice care at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. She was born October 22, 1947 in Macomb, IL to Tommy Dean and Betty Lou (Stewart) Gerety.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband, Peter James Trias, her granddaughter Isabelle Duffy and her daughter-in-law Katherine Porter.
She is survived by her sons; Jean-Pierre Trias of Michigan, Thomas (April) Trias of Macomb, IL, Kenneth (Sarah Henschel) Christine of Kankakee, IL, Guy (Toya) Christine of Bloomington, IL, her daughter Niki (Donald Spears) Duffy of Monmouth, IL, her grandchildren Aidan, Moira, Gavin, Madeline, Abigail, and James, her ex-husband Bob Christine, her brother Patrick Clayton, her nephews Tyco and Trevor and her beloved four legged companion, Dolly.
Jennie was an alumnus of Western Illinois University, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Science, Magna Cum Laude in 1985, received her Masters in English in 1987 and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in English and Journalism in 2012.
She taught English and Journalism at WIU for 28 years until her retirement in 2014.
Jennie was a lover of travel and was a talented and prolific artist and author.
Donations may be made in Jennie's name to Malpass Library at Western Illinois University.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 13
from 2-5 p.m. at the Dining Company, 127 East Carroll, Macomb, Illinois 61455.
