Joan Kost-Miller Loring

Joan Kost Miller Loring, 96, of Macomb passed away at 4:18 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 at Wesley Village Healthcare  in Macomb.
She was born on March 3, 1928 in Vermont to Wilmer M. and Jessie B. Carithers Kost. She married Ed Miller on June 26, 1949. He passed away on April 18, 1982. She later married Bob Loring on July 1, 1990. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Maureen (Bob) Greene of Vermont; four grandchildren, Kylee (Zach) Gould, Tobie (Jorge Macias) Richey, Jacob (Erin) Miller, and Derek (Ellie) Miller; five step-grandchildren, Mark Cramer, Bill Cramer, Andy Sistko, Aaron Sistko, and Mike Sistko; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Jo Gould, Karter Gould, Taryn Richey, Braelyn Macias, Braxton Macias, and Evelyn Miller;  one step-great-grandchild, Noah Sistko and one great-great-grandchild, Myles Alford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ed Miller; son, David Kim Miller; daughter, Jane Burgard; two brothers in infancy, Dale and Robert Kost and two brothers, Russell Kost and Jack Kost; two sisters, Jean Douglas and Jane Kost and one step-grandson, Allen Cramer.
Joan lived most of her life in Vermont until 1982. She then moved to Macomb in 1985. She worked at the Western Illinois University Book Store for many years.
She is a member of the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary and the Vermont Christian Church and a former member of the Elks Deers..
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Pastor Bob Greene officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the MDH Hospice or McDonough County Red Cross Transportation.
