Joanna Baldi Obituary

Joanna "Jill" Baldi, age 78, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, on January 23, 2024, with her family by her side.
Born on June 10, 1945, and raised in Scranton, PA, Jill was the third child of Thelma and Angelo Ciccotti.  As an adult, Jill moved to State College, PA, where she raised her three sons and spent a full career at Penn State (an allegiance she maintained-sometimes with colorful language during close football games-her entire life). In 2006, Jill retired from her position as the Director of Ticketing Operations at Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center.  She moved to Tucson, AZ the following year to be closer to her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Steve Thompson, then moved again to Macomb, Il in 2017.
Jill loved traveling with her grandchildren to places like Disney World, Scotland, and Topsail Beach, NC. She was an excellent cook and an avid Words with Friends player. Active and independent at retirement, Jill filled her busy days with school pickups, youth sports events and piano recitals, movies and manicures with her grandchildren, and assorted board-game days, dinners, and LIFE classes with friends. Dogs Josh and Abbie were Jill's constant companions in Tucson, AZ, and she later refereed the antics of cat Carmel and grand-dog Sadie in Macomb.  Relentlessly upbeat and unflappable, Jill also taught her grandson how to drive. And throughout her life, Jill maintained the close relationships she had formed with friends in State College, Tucson, and Macomb.
In addition to her sister and brother-in-law, Jill is survived by her three sons, Phil (and wife Chris) of Dunbar, PA, Greg (and wife Torrey) of Macomb, IL, and Sam (and wife Maria) of Fort Mill, SC.  She is additionally survived by seven beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren: Julia Nash of State College, PA; Tucker, Taylor, and Benji Baldi of Macomb, IL; Isabella and Sophia Baldi of Fort Mill, SC, and Julia's son Keenan Brooks of State College, PA.
Jill was hugely loved and will be deeply missed. At her request, no funeral or memorial service is planned.
