John Jeffrey (Jeff) Holtz, 79, of Macomb passed away at 12:25 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence in Macomb.
He was born on June 4, 1942 in Moline, Illinois to John Rudolph and Marion Drummond Horne Holtz.
He is survived by two sons, Tom (Rebecca) Holtz of Jessup, Maryland and Matthew (Wendy) Holtz of Bristol, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Alexander Owen Holtz, Douglas Edward Holtz and John Joseph Holtz and one sister, Allison (Marc) Holtz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Brian Holtz and James Holtz.
John lived in Macomb since 1987 and he worked at Western Illinois University for 22 years where he was the music director for WIUM and Tri-States radio before his retirement. He remained an on-the-air personality after retirement, broadcasting for almost 34 years in Macomb. He was an army veteran serving in the National Guard.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Youngshim Pitcher officiating. To attend the funeral in person, masks are required. If you are not comfortable in person, you may watch the services by connecting to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Macomb’s facebook page, and can be accessed through the church website, trinitylutheranmacomb.org.
There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to Tri-States Public Radio.
