Karen P. Gray, 78, of 801 Jamie Lane, Macomb, Illinois, passed away at 7:33
p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021, in Peoria, Arizona.
She was born June 14, 1942 in Beardstown, Illinois to Bernard and Priscilla
Bucher. She married James E Gray on September 16, 1962 in Macomb, Illinois. He
survives her. She is survived by her children; J. Todd Gray (Tanya) of Bloomington,
Illinois, Lisa Gray of Peoria, Arizona, five grandchildren, Brian Gray, Alex Gray, Josh
Gray, Katherine Loffman and Mark Loffman and her fur babies Chloe Jean and Sammy
Earl. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a graduate of Macomb High School. She had lived in Macomb since
1968. Shortly after moving to Macomb, she worked at Citizen’s National Bank for a
short time but then she and James decided she would stay at home and raise their
children. After her children were raised, she bought a tanning salon with a close friend
and together they ran the salon for several years. She was a member of the Macomb P.O.E.
Karen was a wonderful cook, avid book reader, enjoyed cross stitching, had a
love for travel with Boston and Italy being two of her favorites. She loved having
lengthy conversations with friends and enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends in
her early years of marriage. She had a huge love for animals, especially her dogs. Her
favorite breed was the West Highland Terrier which she had for many years. She was a
devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in
Macomb, Illinois on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Funeral services will be held at
2:00 at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Friday September 17, 2021. Masks will be required at the church. Following
the celebration, all are invited to a reception to celebrate the lives of James and Karen
Gray.
