Karen Louise Larson

Karen Louise Larson, 84, of Macomb passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on April 13, 1939 in Northwood, Iowa to Louie and Christine Hengesteg Mostrom. She married Willard Larson on August 18, 1985 in Sweden. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Cindy Amundsen of Macomb, Jay (Becki) Flickinger of Canton and Laurie (Mike) McGillicuddy of Grafton, Illinois; step-children, Rebecca (John Moline) Larson of Arvada, Colorado and Jeff (Tina) Larson of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Sam Amundsen, Brent (Erica) Flickinger, Blake (Lauren) Flickinger, Nick (Audrey) Hare, Morgan (Gedd Ross) Hare, Riley (Katie) McGillicuddy and Chelsea (Casey) Randall and 14 great-grandchildren, Everly Flickinger, Myla Flickinger, Jaymes Flickinger, Grady Flickinger, Della Flickinger, Ella Hare, Findley Hare, Emily Hare, Miles Ross, Kaidynce McGillicuddy, Dax McGillicuddy, Kru McGillicuddy, Jackson Randall and Cooper Randall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Greg Larson and one sister, Arleen Birdsell.
She lived in Northwood, Iowa, Macomb, Galva, Illinois and Lee’s Summitt, Missouri before moving back to Macomb in 2022. She started her education at Luther College and received her Master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She worked as teacher for grade school and Principal for many years before her retirement.
She was a member of P.E.O. and AAUW. She enjoyed reading, knitting, being with her family and traveling with Willard.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Blake Flickinger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
