Larry Keith Dickey, age 78, passed away at 5:55 PM on December 25, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield Illinois.
He was born on June 16, 1946 in Macomb, Illinois the son of Henry and Mildred Dickey. He married Vicki Reynolds Thompson on February 4, 2009. She survives.
He is also survived by two children, Daniel Dickey of Macomb and Terri (Brian) Benisch of Lake Mills Wisconsin; one step-son, Joshua Thompson; four grandchildren, Averie Dickey, Ryan Gill, Jeff Gill and Preston Benisch; one brother, Gary Dickey of Princeton Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Peterman and one brother, Gail Dickey.
Larry lived most of all his life in Macomb, except for the time he spent in the Air Force from 1964 - 1968. He had worked as a tile installer for many years before his retirement. He had also worked for Hy-vee in Macomb for several years. Larry was an avid New York Yankees fan and San Francisco 49ers fan, his favorite pastime was spending time with his granddaughter, Averie.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Grave side services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.. Thursday, January 2, 2025. Full Military Rites will be conducted by The Macomb American Legion and The Macomb VFW.
Memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Association.
