Margaret Mae Johnson, 91, of LaHarpe passed away at 1 a..m. Monday, October 24, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on February 20. 1931 in Good Hope to Harry and Ruth Ervin Purman. She married Joseph Johnson on July 14, 1963. He passed away on September 11, 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan (John Keating) Johnson of Darien, Illinois; one son, Andrew Johnson of LaHarpe; two sisters, Bonnie Swanson of Galesburg and Judy (Paul) Tracy of Wyoming, Illinois; two brothers, Harvey (Marge) Purman of Loveland, Colorado and Richard (Jean) Purman of Hartford, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews.
She lived in LaHarpe for many years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She taught Home Economics at Blue Island, Antioch and Industry High Schools and also worked as a Guidance Counselor.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private grave-side services will be held at Camp Creek Cemetery south of Macomb.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the IOOF Educational Foundation or the LaHarpe Library.
