Marilyn Weller Obituary

Marilyn  Brooks Butterfield Weller entered the Gates of Heaven at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

She was born on July 2, 1926 in Monrovia, California to Charley and Brooksie Butterfield. She married Dick Weller from Macomb in Princeton on May 16, 1975. He survives.  She inherited two step-daughters, Peggy and Linda along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Linnaea Butterfield and six nieces and nephew. She was known as Grandma Marilyn by her grandchildren and she loved them all.                    

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lyndon and Bill Butterfield.                         

She grew up in Bronaugh, Missouri, where she was valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated from business school in Nevada, Missouri.  The family later moved to Princeton, Illinois area where they farmed.

Marilyn worked at GTE, Boise Cascade Land Development Company, Perry Memorial Hospital, Farm Credit Association, a receptionist at an insurance company and Everly House as office manager.   

She was active in PEO, Macomb Women’s Club, Church Circle and social groups. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She and Dick loved to travel having visited nearly every state, South American, Canada, and Mexico. They spent many winters in St. Simons Island in Georgia meeting and enjoying new friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mark Merrill officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025 at Oakland Cemetery Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Emily Fredrickson officiating.

Memorials may be made to the PEO Chapter K Scholarship Fund or the First Presbyterian Church.
