Martha B. Cotter-Eslinger, 100, of Macomb passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Weselly Village Retirement Home in Macomb.
She was born February 21, 1922 to William and Margaret (Crosier) Copelan. She married Carr Hugh Cotter on August 11, 1940 in Avon. He passed away on February 13, 1961. She later married Gilbert Eslinger on January 10, 1997 in Macomb. He passed away March 12, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Margaret Ann Schreck; step-daughter, Sharon Vale and one sister, Pauline Hiel.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane (Neal) Chase of Bushnell; two step-sons, Leslie (Mary) Eslinger of Macomb and Darryle (Lynn) Eslinger of Danvers, Il.;four grandchildren, Brian, Beth, Andrew and Patrick; seven step-grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel, Marlese, Quinten, Christian, Michelle, and Heather; eight great-daughters; one great-great-grandson and nine step-great-grandchildren.
She worked at Brown Lynch Scott Store, Bushnell-Prairie City Elementary School office and the Biological Science office at Western Illinois University retiring in 1989.
She had been a member of the Macomb Women’s Club, Macomb Elks Club Deers and the First Presbyterian Church of Macomb, attending the afternoon circle and serving as Deacon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Dr. Jake Popejoy officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to HSMC New Animal Shelter or the First Presbyterian Church of Macomb.
