Marvin D. Hornbaker, 95, of Blandinsville passed away at 8:07 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born on September 20, 1925 in Ada, Minnesota to Clarence and Ethel Pensinger Hornbaker. He married Phyllis Bice on March 19, 1948 in Blandinsville. She passed away on October 3, 1997.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and one brother.
Marvin is survived by one son, Philip (Elizabeth) Hornbaker of Las Vegas; one daughter, Greta (Gary) Harris of Macomb; his loving companion of 20 years, Deloris Rodeffer, of Blandinsville; four grandchildren, Jade (Mike Valentin) Hornbaker, Brett (Brandi) Harris, Bart (Lacey) Harris and Brittany (Billy) Fraley; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Harper.
Marvin lived most of his life in the Blandinsville area where he farmed and was a farm implement dealer. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion and a life-member of the VFW.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville with Reverend Jim Clayton officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Macomb American Legion and the Macomb VFW. There will be no visitation.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Blandinsville-Hire Fire and Rescue Squad.
