Nan Hall Obituary

Nan Catherine Spangenberg Hall, age 87 passed away peacefully January 10, 2021. She was born in Springfield, Missouri to Hazel and Wesley Calbert Spangenberg. She married her High School sweetheart Marvin Dean Hall in March of 1951 who preceded her death in 2008.

Nan has lived in Macomb, Illinois for the last 57 years. She grew up in Mountain Grove, Missouri and after marrying Marvin they lived in San Diego, California; Columbia, Missouri; Montgomery City, Missouri and Lexington, Kentucky before the family moved to Macomb.

She attended Mountain Grove High School and studied at Southwest Missouri State University.

Nan is survived by 2 sons; Arthur (Cathy) Hall, James (Donna) Hall, and daughter Diane (Mike) Healey. Her son John Michael Hall preceded her death in 2008. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren; Daniel (Miena) Hall, Cathy (Ryan) Meyer, Nancy Hall and Arlo Hall and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jean James (Grace Palmer) and her dear cousin Mary Helen Allen (Jack) and daughter in law Mandie (Rand) Launer.

Over the years Nan worked in Macomb at the Union Bank, Farmers Land Bank and Western Illinois University in administration. She was a member of the Macomb DAR chapter and sorority Beta Sigma Phi as well as Anna L. Parker literary club and attended the United Methodist church during much of her time in Macomb. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout Leader during the 70’s. Always a devoted Mother she juggled shuttling kids to music lessons, High School sports, YMCA and church Youth groups. She loved Art and Music and enjoyed needlepoint, painting and crafts of many kinds. She also loved working on the family genealogy and reading.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Macomb. There will be no visitation. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
