Pastor Donald Ray Riley, 89, of Colchester passed away at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Macomb Post Acute Care in Macomb.
He was born on July 9, 1935 in Peoria to Arthur Charles and Iva Jean Blackhall Riley. He married Nancy Osterman. She preceded him in death. He later married Trudie Knipe. She survives.
He is survived by his children, Ben Riley of Colchester, Steve Riley of Hamilton, Amy (Joseph) Quaerna of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin and Donald (Mandy) Riley of Rochester, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren, Matthew Riley, Joshua Riley, Caleb Riley, Riley Quaerna, Haley Quaerna, Thomas Quaerna, Lexie (Jeremiah) Van De Steeg, Grace (Noah) Hoover, Logan Riley, Olivia Riley and Landon Riley and two great-grandchildren, Easton Van De Steeg and Evelyn Van De Steeg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Johnathon Riley; sisters, Marion Rayburn, Muriel Zaderaka, Dorothy Fuller and Francis Bierly and one brother, Arthur Riley.
He served as a Methodist minister for many years in Hamilton, Port Byron, Burnside, Blandinsville and several other small churches before his retirement. He loved gardening, music and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He also owned and rode horses for many years. Throughout his ministry, he touched and shaped many lives and souls. The family would like to thank the Macomb Post Acute Care for Don’s fine care.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Pastor Becky Butterfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at the funeral home. Private burial of cremains will be in Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia at a later date. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Commitee on Relief.
