Richard William Denton, age 71, of Macomb passed away at 10:11 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 at 811 West Washington in Macomb.
He was born on August 23, 1950 in Springfield to Clarence Willard and Doris Marie Adkisson Denton. He married Pat Denton on May 4, 1972. She survives.
Also surviving are two children and two step-children.
He was preceded by his parents.
He was retired from Western Illinois University working in the physical plant. He enjoyed skydiving, boating, kayaking, fishing, hunting, golfing and probably a hobby I have forgotten.
He servied in the United States Marine Corps from May of 1968 to May of 1974 as a radio operator. He received the National Defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal and Rifle Sharpshooter badge. He was a member of the Macomb VFW and Macomb American Legion serving veterans, assisting in the Honor Guard, and in various other ways. He felt the veterans were to be served and he served them well.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Macomb VFW in Macomb. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Macomb American Legion and and Macomb VFW on the lawn at the VFW.
Memorials may be made to the Macomb VFW.
