Richard Lundgren Obituary

Richard “Lee” Lundgren, 73, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away at 12:45 pm Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Wesley Village in Macomb with his loving children by his side. He fought a long, courageous battle with COPD.
He was born on June 18, 1948 to Leroy and Alma Jean (Neece) Lundgren at the Phelps Hospital in Macomb.
He is survived by his children, Jill (Brandon) Jackson of Macomb and Wesley (Jacey Miner) Lundgren of Kansas City, Kansas; one very special grandson Sawyer Jackson;
two sisters, Lynn (Carl) Allen of Macomb and Lori (Rich) Boyer of Blandinsville; several nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lee grew up on a farm south of Blandinsville in Hire Township with many great neighbors and friends.  He married Kathy Mitchell on December 31, 1973 with whom he had his children.  They later divorced. His Uncle John Lundgren was someone he looked up to and admired tremendously.  It was he who got him interested in heavy equipment.  On Friday, February 25, 1977, he graduated from the Apprenticeship Training Program of Operating Engineers Local #649.  He later went onto work for Midwest Foundation Corporation out of Tremont, IL.  He operated a crane for nearly 35 years.  He took so much pride in his work.  If you ever talked with Lee, you were sure to have heard a story or two about his Manitowoc Cranes.  He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Macomb Chapter #123 and the La Harpe Masonic Lodge #0195 and recently received his fifty-year pin.  This was an accomplishment he was very proud of.  He also served as a trustee on the Blandinsville Township Board.
His simple ways and wealth of knowledge from years past will be missed by all who knew and loved him……a bushel and a peck.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville with Reverend A. Lee Unger officiating.
