Roberta J Welsh

Roberta J. Welsh, 94, of Sciota passed away at 10:55 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.
She was born on February 20, 1927 in Schuyler County to Vaughn and Irene (Peters) DeCounter. She married Stanley Welsh on February 7, 1946 in Sciota. He passed away on July 1, 2019.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Ellen Welsh Keithley.
She is survived by one son, Mitchell (Sandy) Welsh of Blandinsville; two daughters, Janet (Randy) Hachmeister of Burlington, Iowa and Melinda (Keith Donaldson) Welsh of Blandinsville; one son-in-law, Randy Keithley of Blandinsville; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Monte (Rose) DeCounter of Blandinsville and Steve (Betty) DeCounter of Galesburg; one brother-in-law, Gene (Ann) Welsh of Mitchell, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews.
Together, Roberta and Stanley enjoyed traveling the states visiting family and friends in their RV. In the colder months, you could find the two of them wintering in their Ft. Myers, Florida home.
Over the years, Roberta could be found in her art room painting, drawing or working on her next sewing project.
Reading, crosswords and bird watching were a favorite past time that she and Stanley both shared together. Roberta’s angel food cakes would make an appearance at family birthdays and not a moment was missed on her picture wall. She was so proud of her family and loved ones and made sure everyone knew it with special birthday cards and little notes.
She was a graduate of Good Hope High School as valedictorian of her senior class. She played the organ at the Sciota Christian Church many years and then later attended the Blandinsville Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Blandinsville Christian Church with Pastors Gordon Blankenship and Andy Dressler officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m at the Church. Burial will be in Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville.
Memorials may be made to the Lamoine Christian Camp or the Blandinsville-Hire Library.
