Sheila Roberta Scranton, 93, of Macomb passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Elms Nursing
Home in Macomb.
She was born on September 4, 1932 in Compton, California to Robert Williard and Dorthea Sidwell Gant. She
Married Monroe Scranton on October 30, 1949. He passed on July 26, 2004
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter and son-in-law Debra and Jim Stutsman.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Mason, Sherri (Bryan) Moon and Jeffrey (Dawn) Scranton; nine
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (Bill) Benz and Ed (Jan) Gant and multiple nieces and
nephews.
Sheila was an avid reader, book collector, was a collector of figurines, clowns, dogs, spoons, Disney movies and
every kitchen gadget known to man gifted by dad, even though she didn’t like to cook. She loved board games,
word games and card games. She loved Christmas and it was her favorite holiday. She loved making Christmas
ornaments, was a crafter and crochet doilies and afghan blankets. She also loved banana splits, McDonalds Big
Macs, apple pie and coke. She played the piano and the Cello and was involved with Project Santa making
items for the kids to buy presents for family and loved country music.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Oakwood Cemetery with Bill Benz
Officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to MDH Hospice or the Elms Nursing Home
