Stanley Dodge Sellers, 88, of Ottawa, Illinois formerly of Macomb, Illinois passed away at 2:07 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa.
He was born on November 30, 1934 in Rushville, Illinois to Paul and Ruth Maxine Dodge Sellers. He Married Carolee Haines on November 10, 1957 in Macomb, Illinois and were married for 65 years. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy (Joel) Hambleton of Ottawa, Illinois and Penny (Shawn) Dobey of Summerville, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Hambleton of Portland, Oregon, Megan (Braxton) Lancial of Seattle, Washington, Samantha Wilson of Summerville, South Carolina and Colin Wilson of Iowa and one great-daughter, Savannah Harris of Summerville, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stanley lived in Macomb for many years. He worked for the Macomb Dairy. He then worked as a clerk at the Macomb Post Office for 35 years. He was a veteran serving in the Army National Guard from 1954 until 1963. He is a member of the First Christian Church in Macomb and was a Deacon. Stan and Carolee where known as Santa’s helpers giving out stuffed animals to local children. He was also a member of the Macomb Masonic Lodge, bowled for several years, was on the Macomb Balloon Rally committee which started 35 years ago and helped crew for Al Reusch.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at the First Christian Church in Macomb with Pastor Kelly Ingersoll officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb with full military rites being conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.
