Susan Kay Vance Specht, age 69, of Macomb, made her peaceful transition at Countryview Care Center of Macomb on February 15, 2021.
Susan was born in Macomb on July 4, 1951. The daughter of Glen and Martha (nee Willis) Vance. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sibllings, Ruth Elaine Vance and Joe Wayne Vance.
Susan is survived by a daughter, Mindy Ruth Specht of Aurora, Illinois; two sisters, Evelyn Jean McEvoy of St. Louis, Missouri and Mary Ann Anthony of Batavia, Illinois; a brother, Jerry Glen Vance of Macomb; five nieces and three nephews. Susan was formerly married to Frank Specht of Quincy, Illinois, the father of their daughter, Mindy Specht.
Susan graduated from Macomb High School and Cosmetology School. Not only did she have an easy laugh and quick wit, but also had love and compassion for animals, especially cats. She supported causes for the humane treatments of animals. Susan collected angels and enjoyed displaying them for other’s enjoyment and inspiration. Following a stroke in 2006, Susan became a resident of Countryview Care Center where she remained contented in a loving, nurturing, and supportive atmosphere.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Susan will be honored at a future remembrance service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Susan’s name be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter, 101 East Tower Road, Macomb, Illinois 61455.
