Valeria Johnson Obituary

Valeria Johnson, 88, of Macomb passed away at 10 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at her residence.
She was born on December 20, 1934 in Wever, Iowa to Ralph and Helen Pfeiff Peel. She married Donald “DJ” Johnson on January 11, 1979 in Kahoka, Missouri. He passed away on September 11, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Duane Collins; two grandchildren, Kimberly Felgar and Eric Mitchell; three brothers, Carl, Floyd and Norman Peel;  four sisters, Jean Chenevert, Ruth Hoffman, Martha Quesenberry and Irma Fuller and daughters-in-law, Linda Collins and Patty Collins.
Valeria is survived by daughters, Pat (Jesse) Harper of Memphis, Tennessee and Kay Collins of Sarasota, Florida; sons, Ronald Collins of Elkton, Kentucky and Don (Angela Thomason) Collins of Sciota; daughter-in-law, Janet Collins of Avon; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Known as a hard worker and wonderful cook, she gardened and canned and froze food from her garden. She was an avid Cubs fan, loved card games and had a keen sense of humor. She attended Dallas City Schools,, enjoyed music and singing along, was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved people so that motivated her to preach the good news of God’s Kingdom and share her bible based beliefs. She was loved by all that knew her.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Macomb with David Guiter officiating. Burial of ashes will follow the services at the Good Hope Cemetery in Good Hope. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
