Wayne Edward Stewart

Wayne Edward Stewart, 84, of Good Hope, Illinois passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois surrounded by his family.

Wayne was born on November 10, 1941 in Waverly, Illinois one of 9 children to William and Ruby (Farmer)     Stewart of Jacksonville, Illinois. He married May Ann (Ward) on April 11, 1963 who passed away on October 1, 2017.

Wayne is survived by his children, Ronnie (Cynthia) Stewart of Warsaw, Illinois and Bonnie (Tim) Ross of Elgin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Alisha (Chris and Hanna) Stewart, Casey Stewart, Brian (Brittany) Ross, and Amber (Rolando) Gonzalez and one great-grandson, Jackson Ross. His sister, Esta Gillis and brother Willie Stewart and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann and his parents and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Wayne worked for GTE (General Telephone) as a lineman for 37 years. He loved being with his family. They would hear the doorbell ring and there he was with a smile. He loved hunting, woodworking, motorcycles and travelling with Mary Ann. He never knew a stranger and would aways make everyone laugh.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be held at Good Hope Cemetery.
