William Lloyd Goddard Jr. 73, of Macomb lost his battle with covid on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Olympia Fields, Illinois.
He was born on March 20, 1948 in Macomb Il. to William Goddard Sr and Mildred(Sparks) Goddard. He married Doretta Mccoy September 21, 1969 in Macomb. She survives.
Also surviving are his son, James (Molly) Goddard of Anthem, Arizona; his daughter, Kimberly (Donnie) McIntire of New Berlin, Illinois; three grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Goddard, Emma Jean Goddard and Austen Jay McIntire and one brother, Ronnie “Buck” Goddard of Wichita, Kansas.
Bill graduated from Macomb Highschool in 1966. He grew up in Bushnell, moving to Macomb his
sophomore year.
Bill was still working at Carson motors in Carthage Il as he had for many years. prior to Carson’s he
owned and operated Macomb Speed Shop.
Bill was an IHSA basketball official (referee) for over 20 years and is remembered for his teaching
approach with players.
Bill loved stock car racing and when his driving days were over he went on to own and operate Macomb
Speedway. After many race seasons Bill sold the track but continued to go to races all over Illinois with
his friends. He was part owner of B&B racing team for the last 3 years.
Bill was an avid sports fan and shared that love with his children, whether going to Cubs games or
talking Steeler football, sports was always a topic of conversation.
Bill was a big animal lover and could be seen walking his dogs all over town.
He was loved and treasured by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to McDonough County animal shelter.
