William Icenogle Obituary

William “Dennis” Icenogle, 79, of Blandinsville passed away at 12:33 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 20, 1944 in Spring Valley, Illinois to William E. and Wilma Jean Bauser Icenogle. He married Mary Kathryn Coakley on April 5, 1969 in Blandinsville. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Cheryl Ann Campbell of Blandinsville, Wendell Eugene (Michelle Nicole) Icenogle of Industry, Robin Denise (Richard) Shinall of Brownsburg, Indiana and William Eric (Sheila) Icenogle of Blandinsville; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Eldon Icenogle and three sisters, Debra Bordenkircher, Barbara Bailey and Shelly (Hank) Petrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas Edward Icenogle and one brother, Gary Lynn Icenogle.
He has lived in Blandinsville since 1981. He worked as a truck driver and also worked as a police officer in Blandinsville and Warsaw for several years.
He is an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War as a medical corpsman from 1964 to 1967. He received the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Medical Badge and the Marksman Medal. He is a member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. A Memorial service will be held at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023. Burial of cremains will follow in the Industry Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.
Memorials may be made to the Blandinsville Fire and Rescue Squad or MDH Hospice.
